Cooper - 6 Months

Cooper - You are 6 months old! I can't believe we are halfway to your first birthday. I hope the next 6 months go by a little slower, because I just want to keep enjoying your baby-ness for as long as I can.

You did great at your check-up. You were 14.1 lbs (4%) and 25 3/4 in (48%), I think. We had to measure you twice because you wouldn't stay still, and I cant read the nurses handwriting. You are a skinny boy, but so strong. The doctor ordered some extra bloodwork (watching you get your blood drawn was pure torture!), just to make sure you were growing healthy, but he really wasn't concerned because he said you had such great muscle tone. Your Grammy said I was built the same way, so you may just take after my family in stature.

We're going to start you on some veggies this week. Hopefully you like them, because I can tell that you are hungry. You get so mad when we are eating dinner and you can't have some of our food. I think you'll get tired of baby food and move to table food pretty quickly. You are still nursing, but getting less interested, so that worries me a little bit. You still don't have any teeth, but I figure you will in a month or so.

Oh, Cooper. If only you understood how great it is to sleep! I try to enjoy the middle of the night feedings, because I know that one day I will miss snuggling and rocking you while the house is quiet, but your Momma is tired! The doctor said because you're small, you probably just aren't quite big enough to sustain yourself all night, so maybe once we get you eating some veggies, you'll put on some weight and sleep a little longer. You're sleeping in about 3-4 hour stretches, with an occasional 5 hour stretch. (EDIT: the night of his 6 month bday he slept 8 1/2 hours straight!!) You take 2-3 naps a day, usually between 1 1/2 - 2 hours each. You are not a hard sleeper, and do not like to nap when we're out running errands. You want your bed, and you want your room to be dark, cool, and quiet. Pretty much the polar-opposite of how your brother was. It's so crazy to me how different you two have been as babies.

Your biggest accomplishment this month - you are CRAWLING!!! Its just crazy. I'll right a separate post for that, but you are going everywhere. You are so busy, you still can't sit up on your own. You'll also be pulling up very soon. You try so hard, you don't quite have the balance yet. You are a happy boy, and you love your brother. Your favorite thing is to crawl on top of him if he's on the ground playing with you. You are a momma's boy, but you smile so big every time you see your daddy. One of my favorite times each day is when we go in to wake your daddy up. You may have been fussy all morning, but the second you see him you start smiling and talking like crazy! It's so sweet! You are so incredibly busy, you don't like to cuddle much, so I soak up all the sweet smiles and coos I can get.

You are so sweet natured, and just a precious baby. It's hard to believe you're already 6 months old because you still seem like such a little baby to me. You are a ball of energy, and you provide so much fun and laughter to our family. Love you, Wiggle-Worm.

Cooper - 5 months

Cooper, I can't believe you're already 5 months old. This year is just flying by! I'm not sure how much you weigh, but I'd guess around 14 pounds. We just moved you into a size 3 diaper, and you're also starting to fit into your 6 month clothes. We've started trying the rice cereal again. Some days you like it, and other days, you don't want any. We'll probably try to introduce some veggies in the next couple of weeks.
We're still working on getting you to sleep better. You go to bed around 9:00, but you wake up at 10:00, and 11:00. After that, it's usually 3-4 hours before you wake up to eat again. You're napping okay though. Some days you fight it, but if your daddy is home, he can always rock you to sleep.
You just can't stop smiling at us lately! You've really started laughing at Jackson a lot. He loves to talk to you and tickle you, and you seem just taken with him. You also LOVE when you see your daddy in the mornings. You have such a big smile! You are still so squirmy. You just don't want to stay still. You are starting to push up onto your hands and knees, so I think you're going to be crawling pretty soon. You've kind of started the army crawl, and seem a little more content since you can make your way to the toys you want to get to now. You really don't want anything to do with the swing, the bouncer, or any baby gear that makes you sit. You do like the exersaucer though, and that has been a lifesaver! You've also started sticking your toes in your mouth. It's pretty hilarious. You were getting so mad in your bath the other day because you kept trying to grab your foot and it kept slipping out of your hands. Such a silly boy!
It's so hard to remember what our family was like without you. We love you, baby boy!

Cooper - 4 Months

Cooper, you are 4 months old!You weigh 13 pounds (9%) and are 25 inches long (50%). You're a skinny little guy, but you are healthy and growing, so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before some little fat rolls show up on your legs. You are still in a size 2 diaper, and still nursing exclusively. We may try some cereal this month, but we may hold off for a while. You don't seem to be super hungry, so I think you will be fine without it for a while. You're not sleeping very well these days. Your naps are about 1-1 1/2 hours long, and you're waking up every 2-3 hours at night. To say I'm tired is a big understatement, but that's okay! Hopefully you're just going through a growth spurt. I finally moved you to your room at night. You were getting way too big for the co-sleeper, so I knew it was time. Maybe you're just adjusting to being in a different room. You are still such a happy boy! And SO busy. You literally never stop moving. Everyone that holds you asks us, "Does he ever stay still?" You're our little Wiggle Worm. :)You are so ticklish. W can always get you laughing by ticklng your ribs, or playing peek-a-boo with you. You roll over in both directions now, so I know it will just be a matter of time before you are moving around everywhere. You want to see what Jackson is doing all of the time. And Jackson is just crazy about you! He is so good with you, and loves to give you hugs, or get you a toy to play with. I know you two will be such good friends. We love you, baby boy!

Cooper - 3 Months

Cooper, you are 3 months old!You probably weigh about 12 pounds, but I won't know your stats until your 4 month appt. You are in a size 2 diaper. You are still nursing exclusively, but you're not a little piggy like your brother was, so I probably won't start solids for another few months. You are sleeping pretty well at night. I usually get a 5 hour stretch, then you wake about evey 2-3 hours after that. You take a few short naps during the day, but usually take a 2-3 hour nap in the late afternoon. You take your naps in your crib, but you're still in mommy and daddy's room at night - for no reason other than the fact that I just don't want to put you in your room yet. :)You are such a happy boy! It doesn't take much to make you smile. You love to be tickled, especially right around your neck. We can get you laughing pretty easily that way. You LOVE to watch Jackson play, and listen to your daddy whistle and sing to you. The only times you really get fussy is when you're sleepy, or when you have gas. You are still a wiggle worm. I don't think you ever stay still! You don't cuddle much because you just want to face outward and see what everyone is doing. I soak up the rare times that you let me snuggle with you. You do let me rock you to sleep, and I just LOVE to do it!Your big brother thinks you are just the best. He can't give you enough hugs and kisses lately. He tells me pretty often that he wants you to "be bigger" so that he can play with you. You are the sweetest baby and I'm so happy you're ours!

Silly Jackson :)

Jackson has been so silly lately. He really keeps me laughing all of the time! These are just a few things he has been doing lately that I don't want to forget :)

Last week at Cooper's check up, J told Dr. R that he was "as brave as a dragon." so random.

Every time Cooper gets the hiccups, Jackson says "oh, goodness!" or "Excuse you!" after every single hiccup.

When he gets out of the bath, he is so concerned about his "prinkly" fingers (we think he means "pruney"). He always says, "They look like raisins!"

He is constantly singing. This week B-I-N-G-O is his favorite. He has the sweetest little singing voice!

He's been working on understanding who is a "he" and who is a "she." He pretty much has it down, but has been insisting that Jesus is a "she." It's driving me crazy! We have some work to do...

Listening to him talk to Cooper is probably the funniest thing, because he talks EXACTLY like me! I need to get it on video.

I love this boy so much!

Easter 2012

I didn't make huge plans for Easter this year. Since I was actually due ON Easter Sunday, I didn't know if I would be in the hospital, and if I wasn't, I figured I would still be too tired to do too much. Saturday evening, we went to my parents' house to cookout, and had a little egg hunt for Jackson and Ella. They had a blast! Ella was a pro, but we had to teach Jackson not to stop and try  to open every egg as he went.  They ended up each taking one side of the yard, collecting all the eggs and them dumping them all out of their baskets so they could start all over. I think they hunted eggs about 3 or 4 times before we called it quits and went back inside, haha.

(I left my camera at home, so these are the best I could get with my phone.

On Sunday, we woke up and went to church, then went over to Brittany and DJ's house to cookout and celebrate with Chase's family. It was POURING for a while, so the Jackson and Makenna didn't get to hunt eggs. Luckily we had bubbles to keep them entertained once the rain calmed down.
We went home after that and I stayed home to rest that evening while Chase and Jackson went back to church. I had strict instructions from Chase to "sit down and REST" so I happily obliged! I knew I wouldn't be getting much rest in the week to come.

Pictures of Jack before church - so glad the rain held off so I could get a few pictures!

29 Weeks

Missed Week 28...oops.

How far along: 29 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!!    Cooper Reese

Size of baby: About the size of a butternut squash. 15 inches long, and weighs 2 1/2 lbs.
Maternity Clothes: Maternity jeans only now, with the exception of my pajama pants while I'm at home. I'm wearing a mixture of maternity shirts and my regular shirts (the longer ones at least).

Weight Gain: 22 pounds...YIKES. My doctor said that my weight gain is right on track, but it just seems like a lot to me. No thanks to my insatiable appetite for sweets and fatty foods, I'm sure.

Movement: He's recently starting the "flipping" movements. Where it feels like my belly is about to move to my back. He's crazy active.

Sleep: Not so great. I'm actually sleeping pretty comfortably, but I wake up every morning feeling like I only got 3-4 hours of sleep. Not sure what that's about.
Symptoms: Nothing really. A little discomfort around my belly in the evenings, but nothing serious.

Cravings: Still hungry all day long. I'm trying to stay busy so that I don't just sit down and eat all day. But that's really what I want to do.
Best moment this week: Cooper got the hiccups for the first time (at least the first time I felt them)!

27 Weeks

(this is actually 26 1/2 weeks...oh, well!)
How far along: 27 weeks

Gender: It's a BOY!!    Cooper Reese

Size of baby: About the size of a head of cauliflower. About 14 1/2 inches long, and weighs 2 lbs 2 oz according to my sonogram yesterday.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity jeans only now, with the exception of my pajama pants while I'm at home. I'm wearing a mixture of maternity shirts and my regular shirts (the longer ones at least).

Weight Gain: 16 pounds...yikes.
Movement: All the time...If he's not sleeping, he's dancing. Good grief, this baby is active.

Sleep: I've finally reached the point where I'm not sleeping well at all. I wake up every time I need to turn over, which seems like it's about every 30 minutes. But thankfully Jackson is still sleeping 12 hours at night, so I can just lay in bed in the mornings until he gets up.

Symptoms: Nothing really, maybe just a little heartburn occasionally, but not even bad enough to take medicine for.
Cravings: I could eat all day long and not get full. Seriously, I just cannot get enough food!

Best moment this week: I had a sonogram yesterday! Cooper was measuring long and skinny, just like Jackson always did. He looked great though! The ultrasound tech also gave him the award for the most active baby she had seen all day. This boy likes to MOVE.
